Brighton residents will be delighted to hear that the Brighton Car and Bike Show will again be held at Pontville Oval on January 21, 2018. A great family day out, it was very popular last year with over 600 people coming to view the 50+ cars and bikes on display.
The Classic Ford Club have listed it in their events calendar and will be bringing a number of different F Trucks for fans to drool over. But this event is not just limited to the professionals – it is open to all car and bike enthusiasts to bring their own car or bike along (even if it’s not quite finished yet!) It’s a great place to see what others are doing, get ideas, swap notes and generally admire the hard work and dedication that makes restored or modified cars and bikes so special. A number of car and bike suppliers have also agreed to set up stalls on the day. There will be lucky door prizes, a jumping castle, bikes, show bags, coffee, the Brighton Lions Club BBQ, fairy floss and other food vendors at the event.
As Shane Caufield quoted on the Facebook event page “I will be there for my first time, virgin lol” – this comment sent in with a great photo of a lime green and black GTS dressed up for a wedding event.
For people bringing their cars and bikes, the cost is only $5 entry, with funds again going to a good cause. For spectators not bringing a vehicle to display, a gold coin donation is requested, under 12s are free.
The event last year was raising money to buy a piece of medical equipment for the Royal Hobart Hospital that helps people undergoing chemotherapy to keep their hair. This year the Lions Club of Brighton are raising money to run youth mental health programs in the Brighton municipality. This is their second year running this project, 2017 saw 45 Grade 9 students going through 6 hours of training each, learning how to spot and provide mental health first aid to their peers.
Set up time for people bringing cars and bikes to display is between 8:00 am 8:30 am through the gates off Glen Lea Road, Pontville. The Brighton Lions Car and Bike Show starts at 9am and finished at four pm.
